Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a comprehensive Nadu Nedu program aiming to revamp the existing health infrastructure and put in place a robust decentralized tertiary public healthcare infrastructure and facilities to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
All Government Health Facilities shall be developed on par with Corporate Hospitals by upgrading to IPHS Standards for Sub-centers, PHCs, CHCs, AHs and NMC norms for Teaching Hospitals.
All Teaching Hospitals (THs) and Medical Colleges (MCs) are being modernized and equipped with building infrastructure, equipment and human resources in compliance with the NMC
All districts should have at least one medical college:
11 Existing Medical Colleges are proposed for upgradation as per latest NMC guidelines. The works are at different stages of construction.
17 New Medical Colleges along with Nursing Colleges are proposed. With establishment of 17 new medical and nursing colleges, there will be an expected increase of 2,550 no. of additional MBBS in Government colleges.
Out of the 17 new medical colleges, 5 priority medical colleges are identified to start their academic sessions from 2023-24. Next 5 colleges are planned for academic session 2024-25. And remaining 7 will start their session from Academic year 2025-26
