Objectives
Microbiology Department
To impart knowledge of the basic principles of Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Immunology and Parasitology including the nature of pathogenic microorganisms and their pathogenesis.
Laboratory diagnosis, mode of transmission, prevention and control of various infectious diseases.
Planning & Implementation of Infection prevention & control programme (IPC in HICC) to prevent HAIS (Hospital Acquired Infections) & CAIS (Community Acquired Infections) and knowledge of AMR (Anti Microbial Resistance) pattern to prevent MDR (Multi Drug Resistance) in the Hospitals and society.
Training of Lab Technicians under GLP Programme and Infection Control Nurses and Link Nurses under HICC (Hospital Infection Control Committee).
Teaching programmes for Under Graduates, Post Graduates, and involvement in research work and conducting CMES and State conference Programmes.
Active involvement in National Programmes and Disease Surveillance programmes like HIV under NACO, TB under RNTCP, NVHCP under NHM & CDC, various disease research and surveillance programmes under ICMR.
Active participation in Epidemic duties, Pandemics and all infectious outbreaks as Rapid Response Team.
